§ 397.11 Fires.

Current wording, first on file in the 1996 annual edition.

govinfo, 2013 edition ↗
Before Jan. 1, 2017 the record is one snapshot per annual CFR edition, revised as of October 1. This is the 2013 edition's wording. An amendment that took effect between Oct. 1, 2013 and Sept. 30, 2014 would not appear until the next edition, so check the citations below and the Federal Register for exact effective dates.

(a) A motor vehicle containing hazardous materials must not be operated near an open fire unless its driver has first taken precautions to ascertain that the vehicle can safely pass the fire without stopping.

(b) A motor vehicle containing hazardous materials must not be parked within 300 feet of an open fire.
