Wording first on file in the 1998 annual edition, superseded by the 2003 annual edition. The section was then removed.

govinfo, 1999 edition ↗
Before Jan. 1, 2017 the record is one snapshot per annual CFR edition, revised as of October 1. This is the 1999 edition's wording. An amendment that took effect between Oct. 1, 1999 and Sept. 30, 2000 would not appear until the next edition, so check the citations below and the Federal Register for exact effective dates.

A shipping document to be signed by the consignee at time of delivery shall not contain any language which purports to release or discharge the carrier or its agents from liability, but may contain a statement that the property has been received in apparent good condition except as noted on the shipping documents.
